Fighting Irish Claim Ninth Title

After National Runner-Up Finishes in 2010 and 2014, Notre Dame Breaks Through

After national runner-up finishes in 2010 and 2014, Notre Dame broke through by winning the 2023 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship with a resounding 15-5 victory over St. Louis.

Playing on a beautiful Memorial Day afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish put together a complete performance to secure their ninth national title in program history.

Notre Dame's offense, led by Pat Kavanagh and Griffin Westlin, was relentless throughout the game, firing 44 shots on goal compared to just 18 for St. Louis. The Fighting Irish also dominated in the face-off circle, winning 15 of 22 draws.

St. Louis, making its first appearance in a national championship game, fought hard but was ultimately no match for the powerhouse Notre Dame squad.

Another Chapter in a Storied History

With this victory, Notre Dame further cements its status as one of the most dominant programs in college lacrosse history. The Fighting Irish have now won nine championships, including three in the last 10 years.

This triumph is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Notre Dame players and coaches. It also marks another chapter in the storied history of one of the most prestigious programs in the country.
